FILM SYNOPSIS

Synopsis

Ryan Fancher has never moved on from the tragic car accident that claimed his parents.A former engineering prodigy, he drops out of school to work obsessively on a secret invention:

The “Forecaster,”a ramshackle device that uses neutrino readings(and, oddly enough, a toaster) to predict future events with near-perfect accuracy.

Initially, Ryan’s slacker best friend Stan sees the Forecaster as their golden ticket out of soul-crushing jobs and menial paychecks. Their string of too-good-to-be-true wins on sports bets raises the suspicions of local crime boss Victor Damico , who’s losing money thanks to their unlikely streak.

When Stan accidentally spills the truth under threat of violence, Damico’s henchmen set out to steal the machine—or eliminate anyone in their way.Meanwhile, Ryan’s adoptive cousin Max, a practical-minded cop, struggles to grasp both the machine’s capabilities and the legal/ethical turmoil it creates.

Ryan’s ex-girlfriend and former bossAngela has her own reservations, believing Ryan is using the Forecaster to regain control over the uncontrollable and avoid the pain of his parents’ death.

When the Forecaster short-circuits and spits out one final omen—predicting Ryan and Stan’s impending murder—Ryan races to repair it. He must convince Max that the danger is very real while also coming to terms with Angela’s warning: knowing the future can’t undo the past. With the criminals closing in, Ryan is forced to decide how far he’ll go to protect the only family he has left

—and whether controlling fate is worth losing his soul.
